Giles practised as both Solicitor and Barrister almost exclusively in the Family Courts jurisdictions.
In January 2004 Giles was appointed a Federal Magistrate in the Federal Magistrates Court and then a Judge of the Federal Circuit Court.
After a little more than 11 years sitting exclusively in the Family jurisdiction around the country but principally in Newcastle he retired on 30th June 2015.
Giles brings a wealth of experience in Family matters and believes many matters could benefit from mediation with considerable saving of costs and angst for all concerned but especially children and with the benefit of earlier resolution.
In December, 2015 Giles successfully completed the Victorian Bar Lawyers Mediation Certificate leading to National Mediation Accreditation.
Giles undertakes mediations in Sydney, Newcastle and New England.
