Russell appears in criminal matters including trials, sentences, appeals, defended hearings, Local and Children’s Court matters. He is also available to appear in regulatory prosecutions and a range of civil matters.
Prior to coming to the Bar, Russell was a solicitor with the NSW Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. From 2017 to 2019 he was a Special Provincial Constable investigating securities fraud in Canada, and before that was a criminal defence solicitor in Sydney and Melbourne. From 2010 to 2011 he was Tipstaff (clerk) to a Justice of the Supreme Court of New South Wales.
Outside the law, Russell first completed a Bachelor of Sports Media from the University of Canberra and spent two years working as a TV and radio journalist for the ABC. He then returned to finish his studies in Law, where he won two university prizes and received his degree with Honours.
